Technology · TYPO3

TYPO3, for deep page trees and permissions per branch.

We design, develop, integrate and evolve TYPO3 platforms for large organizations, where each entity administers its own section within a shared framework.

TYPO3Content platform

What we do

Design, develop, integrate, evolve.

We work across the full life of the platform, from initial framing to the changes that follow the launch.

Design

Content architecture, templates and administration paths defined with the teams who will work in them every day.

Development

Custom theme, modules and extensions, versioned code, separate environments and review before every release.

Integration

Connection to the systems already in place: data, accounts, marketing tools and business applications.

Evolution

Adjustments, new sections and technical upgrades planned with you, without rebuilding the platform.

Your concerns

The questions an organization asks before choosing.

Can each department manage its own section?
That is TYPO3's very model: permissions are granted per branch of the page tree. An entity administers its own pages without reaching those of others, within a framework held centrally.
How do we manage dozens of sites and languages?
Several sites coexist in one instance, with distinct configurations and inherited content where useful. The difficulty shifts to governance: who decides what, and at which level.
Are release cycles predictable?
TYPO3 publishes long-term support versions with announced dates. That allows upgrades to be planned years ahead, which matters to an organization that budgets by cycle.

In practice

A central framework, autonomous sections.

TYPO3's value appears when several entities publish in one environment without getting in each other's way or leaving the framework.

  1. Page tree

The page structure mirrors the real organization and carries access rights.

  2. Permissions per branch

Each entity receives a precise scope, for reading as well as writing.

  3. Content elements

Components defined centrally, available everywhere with their rules.

  4. Languages and sites

Language variants and additional sites inherit the shared base.

What is decided centrally

Components
The available content elements and their permitted variants.
Scopes
How the page tree is divided between entities.
Inheritance
What flows down automatically and what stays local.
Cycle
The schedule for upgrades and test campaigns.
Governance is what separates a large instance that is held from one that is endured.

Integrations

A platform connected to what you already use.

We start from your existing systems and the interfaces they expose. The exact scope is defined during framing: it depends on each system, not on the technology alone.

Data and accounts

  • Directory and authentication
  • User accounts
  • Internal databases
  • Internal APIs

Marketing and content

  • Email tools
  • Campaign management
  • Translation and multilingual
  • Media library

Business applications

  • CRM
  • ERP
  • Forms and requests
  • Customer service tools

Measurement and compliance

  • Analytics
  • Consent management
  • Logging
  • Accessibility

The right fit?

What tips the decision towards TYPO3.

TYPO3 is justified by organizational scale more than by content sophistication.

Decision criteria

  • Large organizationMany entities, departments or sites that each publish on their own.
  • Hierarchical permissionsA need for strict scopes aligned with the organization's structure.
  • Multilingual at scaleMany languages and regional variants within one instance.
  • Multi-year planningAnnounced long-term support, compatible with budgeting by cycle.

Counterparts to accept

  • Learning curveConfiguration is powerful and calls for specific skills.
  • Editing interfaceFunctional but austere: it deserves usability work for contributors.
  • Talent poolStronger in Europe than in North America, worth considering for handover.
  • Framing effortThe page tree and permissions are designed before development, not after.

If the analysis shows another foundation serves your need better, we say so and point you to the right option.

Operations

What keeps the platform steady after launch.

Operations are not a contract separate from the project: they are prepared during design and continue at the pace you choose.

Environments

Separate development, staging and production, with the same deployment path every time.

Updates

Dependencies and versions tracked and tested before they are applied.

Security

Access management, logging and fixes applied according to their severity.

Backups and recovery

Verified backups and a documented restore procedure.

Monitoring

Availability, errors and response times watched, with a regular review.

Handover

Documentation and code handed to your organization, with no imposed dependency.

Use cases

What it actually looks like.

Three contexts where this approach changes daily life for teams. The interfaces shown are mockups made by our team to illustrate the point, not client projects.

Network of sites

Each entity publishes its own news

Distinct scopes within a shared identity and structure.

Institutional portal

A deep page tree, kept in order

Hundreds of pages organised and administered without disorder.

International rollout

Multiple languages and markets

Language variants inheriting from shared content.

Your project

Let’s talk about your next platform.

Share your objectives, technology environment, and constraints, and we will explore how to integrate the platform into your organization.
